Bicycle tour along Hydrogen symbiosis project
Over the past few months, an existing natural gas pipeline has been adapted for transporting hydrogen between Dow, Yara and potentially ICL over time. This is a milestone in the development of hydrogen infrastructure both in the Netherlands and in Europe. Towards 2030, and in the context of the national climate agreement, hydrogen will play an increasingly important role and with it the need for a well-functioning infrastructure. This project is part of Smart Delta Resources, in which Impuls is a partner. What is so unique about the Delta region is the use of hydrogen as a raw material for the chemical industry.
On August 28 Gasunie Hydrogen Services organized an event to give participants a unique insight into the realization of the physical link between the companies. In cooperation with the project partners Dow, Yara, ICL, SDR, North Sea Port and Province, a bicycle tour was made along the pipeline route. In this way, and while seated on their bikes, civil servants from the ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and the ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment were able to experience what industrial symbiosis looks like in practice.
