Sustainability has an important place in DFDS' strategy. For example, they are fully committed to shore power for ships, electrification of rolling stock and local generation of renewable energy at the terminal in Ghent. In the autumn of 2022, the port authorities of Ghent and Göteborg, together with DFDS, launched the “Green Corridor” between these two ports. DFDS wants to reduce CO2 emissions to zero for the entire logistics chain. Greening inland shipping and road transport from start to finish also fits within the strategy. They want to achieve this by, in addition to electrification, also using green fuels such as e-methanol and hydrogen. To reinforce these ambitions, they have invested in the purchase of a fleet of 125 electric trucks.
